Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Ball Mixture
- 12 sugar cookies
- 4 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
Coating & Decoration
- 12 ounces red candy melts
- Sprinkles (for decorating)
Instructions
- Process Cookies: Add the sugar cookies to a food processor and pulse until they are ground into small crumbs.
- Combine with Cream Cheese: Add the cream cheese to the crumbs and pulse until fully combined into a dough-like consistency.
- Prepare for Shaping: Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking during the freezing process.
- Shape Truffles: Using a 1-inch cookie scoop, scoop out the mixture and roll into 18 uniform balls. Place them on the prepared cookie sheet.
- Freeze Truffles: Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up the balls for easier coating.
- Melt Candy Coating: Melt the red candy melts over a pot of boiling water using a double boiler method until smooth.
- Dip Truffles: Remove the truffles from the freezer one at a time and dip them into the melted candy coating. Place dipped truffles back on the parchment-lined cookie sheet.
- Add Sprinkles: Immediately decorate dipped truffles with sprinkles before the coating hardens.
- Repeat Dipping: Continue dipping and decorating all remaining truffles following the same method.
- Chill Coated Truffles: Place the cookie sheet back into the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to let the coating harden completely.
- Store Properly: Store the sugar cookie balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Serve: Before serving, remove truffles from the refrigerator and allow them to sit for a few minutes to soften slightly for best texture.
