Rich Maple Pumpkin Coffee Syrup Recipe

  • Author: Isabella
  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Yield: About 3/4 cup (enough for 6-8 servings) 1x

Description

This Rich Maple Pumpkin Coffee Syrup combines the comforting flavors of pumpkin and warm spices with the sweetness of brown sugar and maple extract. Perfect for adding a seasonal twist to your morning coffee or latte, this homemade syrup is smooth, richly spiced, and easy to prepare on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquid Base and Sweetener

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup canned pumpkin puree

Spices

  • 1 3/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Flavor Enhancers

  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract (add more for stronger flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine and Simmer Base Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, whisk together 3/4 cup water, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup pumpkin puree until smooth and the sugar starts dissolving. Add 1 3/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg, and 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves, stirring thoroughly. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until small bubbles appear around the edges.
  2. Thicken and Finish with Extracts: Once simmering, reduce heat to medium-low and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes to meld flavors and slightly thicken the syrup. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon maple extract until fully incorporated, preserving their delicate flavors by adding off the heat.
  3. Cool and Store: Allow the syrup to cool completely to room temperature to thicken further. Transfer the cooled syrup into an airtight container or bottle, using a funnel to prevent sticky spills. Store in the refrigerator and use as desired to flavor coffee or other beverages.

Notes

  • The syrup will thicken as it cools; if it becomes too thick, you can thin it with a little warm water before use.
  • Add maple extract gradually to adjust the desired intensity of maple flavor.
  • Store the syrup refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
  • Use canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, which contains added spices and sugar.
  • Whisking frequently prevents clumps and ensures smooth syrup consistency.
