  • Author: Isabella
  • Total Time: 8 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 125 jello worms 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Learn how to make fun and colorful Jello Worms using raspberry jello, unflavored gelatin, and whipping cream. Perfect for parties or kids’ snacks, these worms are created by filling flexible straws with a creamy jello mixture and chilling until set.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Mixture

  • 1 package Raspberry Jello (regular-sized box)
  • 3 packages Unflavored Gelatin
  • 3 cups Boiling Water

Additional Ingredients

  • 125 Flexible Straws
  • 3/4 cup Whipping Cream
  • 15 drops Green Food Colouring
  • 1 Wide Mouth Mason Jar (4 cup size) or Round Cylindrical Glass Vase

Instructions

  1. Combine Gelatin: In a large measuring cup, mix the raspberry jello and unflavored gelatin powders.
  2. Add Boiling Water: Pour the boiling water into the gelatin mixture and stir thoroughly until all the gelatin is completely dissolved.
  3. Chill Mixture: Place the gelatin mixture in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes or until it becomes lukewarm to the touch.
  4. Prepare the Straws: Stretch each flexible straw to extend its flexible sections and arrange them standing upright into the mason jar with the flexible side near the bottom.
  5. Color the Whipping Cream: Add the green food colouring drops to the whipping cream and stir gently to combine, without whipping.
  6. Combine Cream & Gelatin: Pour the green-tinted whipping cream into the lukewarm gelatin mixture and stir until fully blended.
  7. Fill Straws: Pour the combined mixture carefully over the open straws inside the jar until the container is filled. The mixture will level itself inside each straw.
  8. Chill: Refrigerate the filled jar for at least 8 hours or until the gelatin worms have fully set.
  9. Remove Worms: Run each straw under hot water briefly to loosen the gelatin, then pinch from the top down to squeeze out the jelly worms.
  10. Store and Serve: If preparing ahead, place the worms onto a waxed paper-lined baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate for up to 2 days until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use regular sized raspberry jello for the best consistency.
  • Do not whip the cream; just mix with the food colouring and gelatin mixture.
  • Ensure the mixture is lukewarm before adding the cream to prevent it from curdling or melting.
  • Flexible straws are essential for shaping the worms effectively.
  • Running the straws under hot water helps release the worms without damaging their shape.
  • These jello worms make a fun, unique treat for kids’ parties and Halloween events.
