Meat Sauce

  • 1 pound lean ground beef (sirloin recommended)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Onion, to taste
  • Montreal steak seasoning, to taste
  • 25 ounces pasta sauce

Lasagna Layers

  • 22 ounces ravioli (spinach & cheese recommended)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and season with salt, pepper, onion, and Montreal steak seasoning. Cook the meat thoroughly, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it is no longer pink.
  2. Simmer the sauce: Reduce the heat and pour the pasta sauce into the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Let it simmer for a few minutes to blend the flavors.
  3. Prepare the slow cooker: Spray the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Layer the ingredients: Spoon approximately 1 cup of the meat sauce into the bottom of the slow cooker. Top with half of the ravioli, half of the remaining meat sauce, and a handful of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layering with the remaining ravioli, remaining sauce, and finish with the remaining cheese on top. Be sure to tuck the ravioli under the sauce and cheese layers for even cooking.
  5. Slow cook: If using frozen ravioli, cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW heat for 3-4 hours. If using thawed or fresh ravioli, cook on LOW for 1-2 hours until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the ravioli are cooked through.
