Description
Delightful and spooky Crescent Dough Mummy Hot Dogs perfect for Halloween or any fun occasion. Wrapped in golden crescent dough strips to resemble a mummy, these hot dogs are baked to crispy perfection and optionally decorated with candy eyeballs for a festive touch.
Ingredients
Scale
Hot Dogs
- 8 bun length hot dogs (preferably all beef)
Crescent Dough
- 1 roll crescent dough (from the refrigerator)
Optional Decoration & Serving
- Candy eyeballs (optional)
- Ketchup, mustard, or preferred dipping sauces
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare Hot Dogs: Remove the hot dogs from their package and place them on a paper towel. Dab them dry to remove excess moisture for better dough adhesion.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent dough and cut it in half both lengthwise and widthwise to create four equal-sized rectangles. If using perforated dough, pinch seams to seal.
- Slice Dough: Cut each rectangle lengthwise into about ten thin strips to use for wrapping the hot dogs.
- Wrap Hot Dogs: Take one hot dog at a time and wrap about four strips of dough around it to create a mummy appearance, leaving gaps for the eyes.
- Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the wrapped hot dogs evenly spaced on an ungreased cookie sheet, making space to add eyes later.
- Apply Cooking Spray: Lightly spray the wrapped hot dogs with non-stick cooking spray to promote browning and prevent sticking.
- Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15–17 minutes until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Decorate: Remove the hot dogs from the oven and transfer immediately to a cooling rack. Add candy eyeballs to complete the mummy look while the dough is still warm.
- Serve: Serve warm with your favorite condiments such as ketchup, spicy brown mustard, or other dipping sauces.
Notes
- Using all-beef hot dogs enhances flavor and caters to meat preferences.
- For easier dough handling, slightly chill the dough before slicing if it becomes too sticky.
- If candy eyeballs are unavailable, small dots of mustard or ketchup can substitute.
- Non-stick spray ensures a crisp crust and easier cleanup.
- These hot dogs are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven for optimal texture.
- Adjust baking time if your oven runs hot or cool, watching for golden brown dough.
