Ingredients

Scale

Salad Dressing Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Optional Salad Ingredients

  • Romaine lettuce
  • Red onion slices
  • Tomato wedges
  • Whole pepperoncinis
  • Kalamata olives
  • Croutons
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dressing Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, extra-virgin olive oil, dried parsley, dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and grated parmesan cheese if using. Whisk thoroughly until the dressing is smooth and all ingredients are well combined.
  2. Store the Dressing: Pour the prepared dressing into an airtight container or salad dressing bottle. Refrigerate it, where it will keep fresh and flavorful for up to 4 weeks.
  3. Prepare the Salad: To assemble an Olive Garden-style salad, start with a bed of Romaine lettuce. Top with slices of red onion, tomato wedges, whole pepperoncinis, kalamata olives, croutons, a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese, and freshly cracked black pepper. Drizzle with the homemade dressing before serving.

Notes

  • You can omit the parmesan cheese from the dressing for a dairy-free version.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic powder and herbs to taste for a more robust flavor.
  • Store the dressing in the refrigerator and shake well before each use, as it may separate slightly over time.
  • This dressing is also fantastic as a dip for breadsticks or vegetables.
  • Use fresh lemon juice rather than bottled for best flavor.
