  • Yield: Approximately 20-25 cherry bombs 1x
  • Diet: Halal

Description

Christmas Cherry Bombs are festive, boozy treats featuring maraschino cherries soaked in peppermint schnapps, dipped in smooth white chocolate, and coated with crushed peppermint candies. Perfect as holiday party bites or seasonal gifts, these delightful confections combine the refreshing flavor of peppermint with the sweetness of white chocolate and cherries.

Ingredients

Scale

Cherries and Soaking

  • 10 ounces maraschino cherries with stems
  • ¼ cup peppermint schnapps

Coating

  • 5 ounces white chocolate melting discs
  • ¼ cup peppermint candies, finely crushed (from 1012 pieces)

Instructions

  1. Prepare cherries for soaking: Remove the lid from the jar of maraschino cherries and carefully drain ¼ cup of the juice, keeping the cherries in the jar.
  2. Add peppermint schnapps: Pour ¼ cup of peppermint schnapps into the jar with the cherries, replace the lid, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to overnight to allow the cherries to soak and absorb the flavors.
  3. Dry the cherries: After soaking, take the cherries out of the jar, place them on a paper towel-lined plate, and pat them dry thoroughly to ensure the chocolate adheres well.
  4. Prepare workspace: Line a rimmed tray with parchment paper to place the dipped cherries on.
  5. Melt white chocolate: Put the white chocolate melting discs in a small, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 30 seconds to 1 minute, stir, then continue microwaving in 15-30 second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth.
  6. Dip cherries in chocolate: Holding each dry cherry by its stem, dip it into the melted white chocolate to cover about 75% of the cherry.
  7. Coat with crushed peppermint: Immediately dip the chocolate-covered portion of the cherry into the crushed peppermint candies. Place the dipped cherry on the prepared tray with the stem pointing upwards. Repeat for all cherries.
  8. Chill: Refrigerate the tray with dipped cherries for 30 minutes to set the chocolate before serving.

Notes

  • For an intensified peppermint flavor, soak cherries overnight.
  • Be sure cherries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
  • Use white chocolate melting discs for easy, smooth melting; adjust time based on your microwave’s strength.
  • These treats should be stored in the refrigerator and are best consumed within 3-4 days.
