  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 12 large cookies 1x

Description

Enjoy the classic Chick-Fil-A Cookie, a delightful treat featuring a soft and chewy texture loaded with oats, rich brown sugars, and generous amounts of chocolate chunks and chips. Perfectly baked to golden perfection, these cookies deliver a homemade taste reminiscent of the beloved fast-food favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 whole eggs

Sugar

  • 1 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

Chocolate

  • 1 1/2 cup chocolate chunks
  • 1 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350º F (175º C) to ensure it’s ready for baking your cookies.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a bowl, thoroughly mix the all-purpose flour, quick cooking oats, baking powder, and baking soda. Set this mixture aside for later use.
  3. Cream fats and sugars: Using an electric stand mixer, cream together the softened butter, vegetable shortening, dark brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Add wet ingredients: Incorporate the honey, vanilla extract, and whole eggs into the creamed mixture. Mix until the eggs are fully blended in and the batter is consistent.
  5. Incorporate dry mixture: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Pause to scrape down the sides of the mixer bowl as needed to ensure an even mix.
  6. Fold in chocolates: Gently fold in the milk chocolate chips and about 1 cup of the chocolate chunks, reserving some chunks for topping.
  7. Shape cookies: Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup for larger cookies (or smaller scoops for smaller cookies), scoop the dough onto a lined baking sheet. Place a few reserved chocolate chunks on top of each cookie for extra chocolatey goodness.
  8. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the cookies for approximately 12-13 minutes until the edges are just golden brown and the tops are set. For smaller cookies, reduce baking time to about 9 minutes.
  9. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes to firm up, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • For the iconic giant Chick-Fil-A cookie size, use a 1/4 cup measuring scoop to form each cookie.
  • Be sure not to overbake; cookies should be golden at the edges but soft in the center for the perfect chewy texture.
  • Softened butter is key for proper creaming and texture.
  • Quick cooking oats add a subtle chewiness without altering the cookie structure like old-fashioned oats might.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
