Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
- Prepare the Sub Loaf: Slice the 12-inch Italian sub loaf in half lengthwise, but don’t cut all the way through; create a butterfly effect by pulling the halves apart gently. Optionally, you can cut the loaf into two 6-inch subs if easier to handle. Brush 3-4 tablespoons of Italian dressing evenly on both halves to add moisture and flavor.
- Add Peppers: Evenly spread the sliced pepperoncini peppers and marinated roasted red peppers over both halves of the bread. These add a tangy and slightly spicy kick to the sub.
- Layer Meats and Cheese: Layer the thinly sliced capicola ham, ham, salami, pepperoni, and Fontina cheese evenly on top of the peppers on each half. Make sure to distribute ingredients evenly for balanced flavors.
- Sprinkle and Bake: Sprinkle red pepper flakes over the layered subs according to your heat preference. Carefully place the halves on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-13 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.
