Air Fryer Bagel Chips Recipe

  • Author: Isabella
  • Total Time: 19 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 2 cups of bagel chips 1x

Description

Crispy and flavorful air fryer bagel chips made with thinly sliced plain bagels coated in a savory garlic and onion butter mixture. Perfect for snacking or serving with dips, these homemade chips are easy to prepare and ready in under 15 minutes using your air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale

Bagel Chips

  • 1 plain unsliced bagel
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Slice the bagel: Slice the bagel in half from top to bottom to form two half moon shaped halves. Then cut the halves into thin ⅛ inch rounds to create the chip pieces.
  2. Prepare the chips: Place the bagel slices into a mixing bowl ready for seasoning.
  3. Make the seasoning mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt by stirring well to create a flavorful butter mixture.
  4. Coat the bagel slices: Drizzle the seasoned butter evenly over the bagel chips and stir carefully to ensure all pieces are coated thoroughly.
  5. Arrange in air fryer: Spread the coated bagel chips in an even layer in the bottom of your air fryer basket, avoiding too much overlap for even cooking.
  6. Air cook the chips: Air fry at 300°F (approximately 150°C) for 7-9 minutes. Gently shake the basket halfway through to promote even toasting. Cook until the chips reach your desired crispness.
  7. Cool and store: Allow the bagel chips to cool completely before serving or storing. Keep them in an airtight container or bag for up to 7 days to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Use plain bagels for best flavor, but you can experiment with everything or sesame bagels.
  • For extra crispiness, slice the bagel as thinly as possible.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the chips in the oven at 300°F for 10-15 minutes, turning halfway.
  • Store cooled chips in an airtight container to keep them crunchy.
  • Adjust the garlic and onion powder amounts to your taste preference.
